1996 Desiree Svend Jensen Hans Christian Andersen Christmas cup with saucer

The motif of this 1996 Desirée annual cup from The Porcelain Factory Desiree, also known as Désirée Denmark, Svend Jensen of Denmark, Old Copenhagen Blue is found in the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale The Snowdrop. The 1996 Hans Christian Andersen Annual Cup had the same motif as the 1996 Svend Jensen Christmas plate. So the 1996 Desiree Annual Cup and the 1996 Desiree Christmas plate are actaully a beautiful coffee set with plate and cup. As The Snowdrop in Hans Christian Andersens fairytale has the snowdrop on the Christmas plate just brooked through snow and frost. The sunshine gives it courage and food for the time where the snow may still come. Lis Torbol is the designer who has created this Annual cup. Désirée started the Annual cup series in 1982 and ended it in 2001. So 20 different sets were made to complete a perfect coffee set.
