1992 Desiree Svend Jensen Hans Christian Andersen Christmas cup

The motif of this 1992 Desirée annual cup WITHOUT saucer from The Porcelain Factory Desiree, also known as Désirée Denmark, Svend Jensen of Denmark, Old Copenhagen Blue is The Round Tower which is found in the Hans Christian Andersen novel To be or not to be. The 1992 Hans Christian Andersen Annual Cup had the same motif as the 1992 Svend Jensen Christmas plate. So the 1992 Desiree Annual Cup and the 1992 Desiree Christmas plate are actaully a beautiful coffee set with plate and cup. With inspiration from Hans Christian Andersens novel "To be or not to be", the designer Svend Otto S., has painted The Round Tower on the Annual cup of this year. When you are in the Round Tower and are standing on the viewing point you are 35 meters above the street. To get to the point from which there is a view you have to walk through a wide passage, formed like a spiral. The passage is covered with paving stones because it should be possible for a horse carriage to drive to the library. From the library you have to walk through steps the rest of the way to get to the viewing point. Désirée started the Annual cup series in 1982 and ended it in 2001. So 20 different sets were made to complete a perfect coffee set. All motifs of the Hans Christian Andersen annual cups from Désirée are inspired by Hans Christian Andersen´s Fairy Tales.
