Aladdin plate no. 4, Rosentahl Bjorn Wiinblad

Aladin imprisoned in the enchanted garten is number 4 in a series of 12 aladin plates produced by Rosenthal, designed by Bjørn Wiinblad. In his 12 Aladin plates, Bjorn Wiinblad virtuously depicts the tale of Aladin from the well known fairy tale The Thousand and One Nights. In this fairy tale Aladin achieves the greatest treasures and overcomes the gravest dangers, and Bjorn Wiinblad has, in his usual optimistic style, chosen the most important scenes from Aladin's life. The brilliant and intense colours with gold ornamentations stresses the splendor of this oriental fairy tale. This is the fourth of the twelve Aladin plates, titled Aladin imprisoned in the Enchanted Garden. The technique used for the plates is overglazed. Aladin from The Thousand and One Nights. When the magician demands the lamp, Aladin becomes stubborn and refuses to hand it over. Thereupon the magician employs sorcery and locks up the garden. Aladin gathers many of the flowers and fruits in the garden, which in reality are jewels.
