Copenhagen Harbour (The Little Mermaid) 2013, Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate

2013 Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate, designed by Sven Vestergaard, has the title Copenhagen Harbour (The Little Mermaid). 2013 is the 100 year anniversary of the sculpture of The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen Harbour. She was created by the sculptor Edvard Eriksen and has been displayed since 1913. The Little Mermaid has her origins from the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale with same name and she is known in most of the world. She is placed on the Harbour so she can welcome visitors to Copenhagen and she express all her beauty and wistfulness with her face turned towards the sea. On the sea the royal yacht, Dannebrog, lays at anchor. Every year her Majasty the Queen of Denmark and her royal family spent some time in the summer on the royal yacht, visiting harbours in Denmark, Greenland and Faroe Islands. Sometimes it also brings the royal family to foreign harbours. The first Royal Yacht Dannebrog was launched in 1912 and the present Dannebrog was launched in 1932. At the 2013 Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate we also see some of the proud historical buildings of Copenhagen. Eg. The Stock Exchange, Church of Our Saviour, the Town Hall and the Round Tower.

Rivolge il suo squardo verso il mare, dove é ancorato il maestoso Dannebrog, lo yacht reale, mentre in direzione dalla terraferma abbiamo il delicato profilo degli orgogliosi edifici storicia di Copenhagen, come il palazzo della Borsa, la Chiesa del Nostro Salvatore, il municipio e la Torre rotonda.
