About the product
1983 Holmegaard Ship's plate with motif of the Danish ship named "Isefjord". The motif of the plate was reconstructed by Per Bøgh together with the owner of the ship at that time, Baron Erik Gyldenkrone-Rysensteen. Isefjord was built in 1874 by the shipbuilding engineer Buhl in Frederikshavn. The Fore-and-aft Schoonership was named "Skagen". In many years it was sailing to Sweden, Norway and Danish provincial towns. In 1920 the ship was sold to Ole Olsen who named the ship Minna. The ship continued to sail on the route until 1938 where it went down in a snowstorm. The ship was salvaged and after that is was named Isefjord. Isefjord was sailing with ammunition from Sweden to Danish resister during the Second World War. On the ways back to Sweden, hundreds of Jewish people were hide in the hold so they could be safe in Sweden. The ship was attacked in 1943 and the skipper was put into prison. The carrying trade was taken up again after the war and continued until 1971 were the ship was sold to Baron Erik Gyldenkrone-Rysensteen. Inscription on the plate: Sletopskonnert Isefjord
