To the emigrant traffic Scandinavia-America Line, DFDS had Nordens largest steamship S/S "Frederik VIII" built in 1913. It was 11,850 tons and not only a beautiful and well-built ship, but also had a reputation for comfortable accommodations and excellent service for all passengers. S/S Frederik VIII sailed regularly on the route Copenhagen-Christiania (Oslo) - New York until 1936 - and many emigrants made the journey across the Atlantic aboard this Danish-American steamer.
