Plate No. 7 in the Danish Steamship Friends series titled "Danish Steamships" The porcelain plate was designed by Bertina Kærager and produced by Millhouse.
Information on the back of the plate:
The steam ferry Christian IX was delivered in 1908 by A/S B&W to the Danish State Railways for the Great Belt crossing. The ferry had 2 high and low-pressure steam engines totaling 2260 ihp, giving it a speed of 15 knots. It had 2 railway tracks spanning 157 meters in length and could accommodate about 18 freight cars of the era's size. dditionally, there was space for 180 passengers. In 1910, DSB acquired a sister ferry to Christian IX. On April 20, 1940, Christian IX was struck by a mine, but was salvaged and back in operation by February 1941. In October 1944, Christian IX was seized and only returned to DSB (from Norway) in July 1945. On March 14, 1964, Christian IX made its final journey across the Great Belt.
