About the product
Plate No. 2 in the Danish Steamship Friends series titled "Danish Steamships" The porcelain plate was designed by Bertina Kærager and produced by Elg & Elg.
Information on the back of the plate:
S/S Bjørn was built by G. Seebeck A/G - Bremerhafen in 1909 and delivered the same year as newbuilding no. 283 to Randers Port Authority, where it has faithfully served as a tugboat and icebreaker in the harbor and the long narrow fjord. In the winter of 1979, S/S Bjørn celebrated its 70th anniversary as the country's only active steamship in daily operation. S/S Bjørn has a tonnage of 135 GT and its engine produces 450 horsepower - a 3-cylinder steam engine. Few changes have been made to Bjørn over the years - the boiler was renewed in 1923 and in 1948 an oil-fired system was installed instead of coal-fired, but otherwise Bjørn remains largely unchanged, despite its advanced age.
