About the product
The 1982 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate designed by Henry Thelander is titled the Christmas tree. The plate depicts two children carrying the family Christmas tree home, after having chosen and cut it in the wood. The tradition of going to the wood to pick your own tree is still used in many Danish families. The tradition of having a Christmas tree in the living room is not a very old one. In Denmark the first Christmas tree was heard of in 1808 at the manor Holstenborg, and not until the end of World War 1, it became a common sight in Danish middle class homes to have a Christmas tree.
