About the product
1932 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, designed by H. Flügering, bears the title Lifeboat at work. Bing & Grondahl's Christmas plate from 1932 depicts a lifeboat in rough wheather off the shore by Skagen, the most northern part of Jutland where Skagerak meets the North Sea. Several ships have wrecked here because of the rough sea. In 1847 the first two lifeboat stations were established along the west coast of Jutland, and by 1852 the lifeboat service was taken over by the Danish state, and lifeboat sta- tions were set up in many places along the Danish coasts. Today Denmark has 37 lifeboats, with 500- 600 operations a year, where all kinds of ships and vessels are assisted.
