About the product

1916 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, designed by J. Block Jorgensen, is titled Christmas Prayer of the Sparrows. Bing & Grondahl's Christmas plate from 1916 depicts two sparrovs sitting on a branch in front of Højerup church near Stevns Klint. This church is in gothic style built around 1250. At that time the church was situated in some distance of the sea, but as the sea took more and more land, the church came very close to the cliff. The legend has it that the church every Christmas night moved a handbreath away from the cliff, but this obviously was not enough, because in 1928 part of the church and churchyard toppled into the sea. The church was later rebuilt and supported by concrete.
