1900 Bing & Grondahl Christmas plate, designed by Dahl Jensen, has the title Church Bells Chiming. Bing & Grondahl's Christmas plate bears the name of the Great Danish historian, poli- tician and poet N.F.C. Grundtvig's (1783-1872) Christmas carol. N.F.S. Grundtvig is today known for his new ideas on learning, i.e. that school should be a place where spirit and thought should be developed through informations relating to everyday life. N.F.S.Grundtvig was the founder of the Danish folk high school. The motif on the plate is the church bell of Syv church, a country church near Roskilde, which was owned by the Quistgaard family, but became an independent church in 1912.
