Bing & Grondahl plate Inscription at the back of the plate: The title of the picture reproduced in this plate is " La Serveuse". The original was painted by the Swiss painter Jean Etienne Liotard and it depicts a young girl serving chokolate for her employer. Chokolate was a very sophisticated drink in the 19th century, and it was only served in rich houses.
