Royal Copenhagen koala bear figurine 5402 by William Timyn

Royal Copenhagen figurine 5402 depicts a koala bear sitting close against a tree trunk with arms and legs around the trunk. The motif is modelled with a calm, natural weight, and the figurine has a fine expression with raised ears, a defined snout and warm eyes. The blue-grey shades in the underglaze give the surface life and depth, while the light base colour highlights both the fur and the structure of the bark.

The figurine is designed by William Timyn and is a good example of Royal Copenhagen's animal figurines, where nature study and porcelain craftsmanship meet in a form that appears both decorative and full of character. The koala bear is rendered in a compact, almost embracing posture, which makes the figurine interesting to look at from several angles. It works beautifully on its own in a bookcase, on a chest of drawers or in a collection with other porcelain figurines and animal figurines from Royal Copenhagen.

For collectors and connoisseurs, figurine number 5402 is an exciting model with a distinct identity. Older porcelain figurines like this bring history and personality into the home and are at the same time a beautiful choice for those who appreciate design created to last. Choosing vintage porcelain is also a way to give classic craftsmanship new life in a modern interior.

On the underside, the figurine is marked with the model number "5402" as well as the Royal Copenhagen stamp. The handwriting "Tove" and "PR. VINT. L. NIELSEN" can also be seen on the base.
