Holmegaard's table lamps never go out of style - they are classic and still as beautiful now as they were when designed years ago, but over time, they may need a new lampshade. Set the Mood with the Right Bulbs

When choosing bulbs for your table lamps, there are several important considerations to take into account; the socket of the bulb must match, consider whether the bulb should be dimmable, and pay attention to color rendering, which should be at least 90 (CRI) for natural light. Additionally, the color of the light plays a central role in creating the desired mood. Choose a Kelvin temperature that suits the purpose, from warm and cozy light at 2,500-2,700 Kelvin to neutral work light at 4,000-4,500 Kelvin.

However, the color of the bulb is not the only factor that affects the mood. The color of the lampshade and the brightness of the bulb also play a role. A darker shade or a lower wattage bulb can create a cozy atmosphere, while a brighter shade and bulb are ideal for reading and tasks that require clear light. What types of sockets are there on table lamps?

Understanding different socket types is crucial as it affects how you attach lampshades to your table lamps. Here is some information about socket types:

• 40mm socket (E27): This modern socket is used for E27 bulbs, which are the most common bulbs today. It usually has a screw thread with two circumferential rings that allow attaching the lampshade with a shade holder. There are also smooth 40mm sockets where the shade can only be attached with a bulb clamp.

• 34mm socket (E27): This is the older version of the socket for E27 bulbs, which is no longer available as new but still exists on many older lamps. These sockets are smooth with a notch on the socket where the top can be screwed off. The shade holder is mounted in the notch, and the top is then screwed back on. For this type of socket, you need 34mm shade holders.

• 14mm socket (E14): Sockets for E14 bulbs are usually smooth and use lampshades with a bulb clamp for mounting. Some of them may also have circumferential rings that allow the use of 31mm shade holders.

If you are unsure about the socket your lamp has and therefore unsure about which shade holder to use, in cases where E27 bulbs fit, you can use our universal shade holder, which is compatible with lamps with standard E27 sockets.
