It is very rare that we cannot help our customers, even when they are looking for shades for special chandeliers, wall lamps, table lamps, etc. We have a large selection of lampshades for retro table lamps, wall lamps, pendants, chandeliers, etc. Both very large and small shades. Due to our large selection of models and shapes, we always recommend that you bring your lamps with you when buying new lampshades. This gives us the best opportunity to guide you to the perfect shade for your lamp.
This also applies if you need a lampshade identical to the one you have had so far. Often, the old shade is not enough, as we may not have a model that can be directly compared, but only resembles it.

What size lampshade fits my lamp?
Finding the right size lampshade for your lamp can be difficult. We suggest that you go to our 'Lamps' category and find a lamp of the same type, size, and shape as the lamp you have. - Under most of our table lamps, we show different shades that can fit this size lamp. This way, you can more easily assess which size and model you can use for your size lamp.
As a general rule, you should go for a lampshade that is 3/4 of the height of the lamp up to the bottom of the socket. So you can multiply the height of the lamp up to the socket by 0.75 to get a suitable height for the lampshade. This is not applicable in all cases but is a good rule of thumb.
How to measure lampshades and lamps?
When buying a lampshade, you should pay attention to its measurements. At DPH Trading, we measure the top size, bottom size, and height of lampshades.
Top and bottom measurements of lampshades
We measure the top and bottom dimensions from straight side to straight side, and always on the longest side, as shown below.
Height of lampshades
The screen height is the vertical height, that is, the height that is measured straight down from the top, as seen in the picture below. However, this does not apply to pleated screens, where the side length is measured instead.
Height of lamps
Measure the height of your table lamp up to the socket, as indicated by the arrow. (Do not include the socket in the measurement).
What shape should my lampshade have for my lamp?
For round lamps, a round or hexagonal lampshade is recommended if there is enough space around the lamp. However, if the lamp is placed in a window sill or similar, an oval or elongated shade is a good option. For Chinese table lamps, angled shades are recommended, and for lamps with different shapes, a shade that matches the shape of the lamp is recommended.

How is a lampshade attached to a lamp?
There are several different ways in which a lampshade can be attached to a lamp:
- The lampshade has a fixed inner frame that is mounted directly on the socket.
- The lampshade has a carrying ring that is placed on top of a lampshade rack, which is mounted on the socket.
- The lampshade has a bulb clamp that is placed over the bulb.
- Spider fitting lampshades, where the shade is mounted on a rod on the lamp (this is an old way of mounting lampshades that is not common today).

- Height of a lamp for which you are looking for a shade. The height is measured from the base of the lamp up to the socket.
- Preferences for the shade, such as whether it should be round, square, narrow, etc. and what color, etc.
- Attach a picture of your lamp. The picture should be without the lampshade, so we can see the socket, lamp base, etc.
- Your phone number, so we have the option to call you for any further questions or clarifications.
Remember! When photographing your lamp, it's a good idea to place a measuring tape next to the lamp (see the picture to the right). That way we can see the size of the lamp.
Tips: You can also lay the lamp down and place the measuring tape next to it if it's difficult to take a picture with the measuring tape standing up.
How do you get custom lampshades in larger quantities?
We cannot exactly provide a DIY lampshade or parts for a homemade lamp, but we can have them produced for a specific purpose.
We keep different models of lampshades in various colors and fabrics in stock. Our website indicates the fabric used for each individual lampshade, but our assortment changes regularly. If you have special requests, you are welcome to send us an inquiry.
If you need larger quantities of the same lampshade (over 10 pieces), we can often have them specially produced for you.
You are more than welcome to contact us regarding your special requests. We also note that there is no right of withdrawal for ordered items.

The trend today is moving away from very flat, round lampshades and towards more cylindrical or oval lampshades.

When choosing round lampshades, the diameter is often more important than the height, and it can be difficult to provide a rule of thumb. However, if you have an existing lampshade, it's a good idea to use its size as a reference when choosing a new one. Look at the height and diameter at the top and bottom, and choose a new lampshade that closely matches these measurements.
The choice of lampshade also depends on the style you want to achieve in your home and for your lamp. If you prefer a more classic look, flatter and more angular lampshades are often a good choice. If you want your lamp to have a more modern look, cylindrical lampshades are a great option that can make even the most retro and vintage lamps fit well in a modern interior.
