Holmegaard pendants
The classic Holmegaard pendants Apoteker, Mandarin and Etude have been part of the Holmegaard lighting range for many years and are still as timeless and classic today as when they were launched in the late 1970s and early 1980s. At first sight these three Holmegaard lamps looks like each other. They are often used for table lamps, lamps for bed tables, lamps for meeting rooms, etc. It is only your own taste that decides which of the three lamps to choose. If you like it simple and streamlined, the Mandarin pendant is a great choice. It is simple yet elegant with clean lines, where nothing is destracting the original design of the glass. Holmegaard Apoterker pendant is characterized by its rounded lines, which gives the lamp an exclusive and stylish look. Holmegaard Etude pendant is almost a cross between the two other because of its delicate dome or thick, round ring in the middle.
Holmegaard Apoteker pendant
The Apoteker lamp is one of the most famous Holmegaard lamps, both when it comes to table lamp and pendant. The Holmegaard Apoteker pendant was available in two sizes of 25.5 cm and 38 cm. The large Apoteker pendant is often used over the diningroom table, as it provides a good light directly on the table. The small Apoteker pendant is also often used as a lamp over the coffee table or the kitchen table. You can also use the small Apoteker pendant over a long diningroom table, if you hang two lamps next to each other. The small Holmegaard Apoteker pendant is ideal in a kitchen window or in the hall.
The Holmegaard Apoteker lamp is a classic, which was launched back in 1981 and it is still exceptionally popular among people of all ages. The lamps are easy to clean because of their smooth surface and they fit in any decoration. It is Sidse Werner who designed the Apoteker lamps and even though she sadly died in 1989, she lived to experience the great success her Holmegaard Apoteker lamps got and still have.
If you already have a Holmegaard Apoteker pendant, but think it needs to be refreshed, you can buy a new electric hanging for the pendant. Over time the electric hanging can become yellow and cuddled, but with a new electric hanging to the Apoteker lamp, it becomes almost as new.
The Apoteker lamp was also available as a table lamp that has been made in both white and black.
Holmegaard Mandarin pendant
The Holmegaard Mandarin pendant was designed in 1983 and was instantly a great success. Holmegaard Mandarin is not as known as the Apoteker lamp, but with its very streamlined design it is timeless and fits just as well in the current interior design, as it did 30 years ago.
The Holmegaard Mandarin pendant 300 and Holmegaard Mandarin pendant 450 is the most popular as a dining table lamp or coffee table lamp. The Mandarin lamp is often used in a conference room or meeting room because of its pleasant light directly on the table.
The opal white color is the most popular and common one, but actually Mandarin pendant 300 has also been produced in black glass, when black was at its highest in interior design. The black color was taken out of production quickly and was only for sale in a short period of 3-4 years.
The Mandarin series also includes two wall lamps, which are beautiful lamps in the hall.
Michael Bang (1944 -) has designed many glass series for Holmegaard. He started his career back in 1968, when he was employed at the Holmegaard department in Odense. Several of his designs are still in production today. This applies for example MB vases and flowerpots. He has also designed the Sakura lamp from Holmegaard in 1982.
