Celebrate Mothers Day
Mothers Day in Denmark is, like in the USA and many other European countries, celebrated the second Sunday of May. One of the most popular traditions is to give your mother a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
Alternately, you can also give her a more personal gift. Perhaps a book, items for home decorations or maybe an experience. All of which also are popular gift ideas for Mothers Day.
The origin
The Mothers Day tradition originated from the United States in 1872 and was invented by Julia Ward Howe. It was Anna Jarvis, who made the day known, when she started the tradition of setting the second sunday in may as mother's day in 1908. In 1914 Mothers Day was accepted as a national holiday in the United States and today it has become one of the biggest holidays.
It is one of the most popular days for dining at a restaurant. It is also one of the best days for selling flowers. In Denmark it has not yet become as popular, although it is one of the bestselling days of flowers as well.
When is mother's day celebrated?
Mother's day is on of the more unique holidays as it is celebrated on different dates in different countries. In Denmark we have adopted the second sonday in may from the US, but both in Norway and in Sweden they have different dates. A tribute to all mothers

On Bing & Grondahl Mother's Day plates is seen an animal with her young.
