Bing & Grondahl plates collection, Moments of Truth, designed by Kurt Ard
Kurt Ard has looked at his own two children, Peter and Pia, when he painted some of the little everyday troubles of the children's (and perhaps adult's) world. The motif of the first plate "Home is best" clearly shows the little boy's disappointment about the world he has been in on his own for the first time, and subsequently returned to home. The plates from B & G is available in a limited edition, produced in 50 firing days, and the decoration is done over the glaze. The plate series was released in 1984 with approximately three months between the release dates.
Kurt Art is famous for his realistic and at the same time humorous drawings. He has designed several illustrations for Danish family magazines, and has also had an international career. He has lived in Sweden, Norway, United States and Spain where he drew for magazines, posters, Christmas cards and calendars.
