Today a lot of the work in agriculture is done by machines, but many still remember the days when the farmer drove with horse and wagon in the field. Today we have a romantic vision of contemporary agriculture, such as illustrated on the German agricultural plates by Christian Seltmann.
Bing & Grondahl and Tove Svendsen plates are depicting episodes from Danish agriculture. B&G's fine white plates with brown line drawings are showing the processing of milk.
Bing & Grondahl Dairy Plates
From 1981 to 1984 Bing & Grondahl released a dairy plate every year for Christmas. The B&G plates from 1982 and 1983 show a milk wagon and milk man on his way with milk, the motif from 1981 shows a dairy store and the plate from 1984 shows a milkman bringing out with milk to the families doorsteps, so it was ready for the family breakfast.
