Nielsen has designed motifs for all Bing & Grondahl Christmas plates from 1993-2012. This series started way back in 1895, and is the world's oldest Christmas plate series. As it can be seen from the pictures below, Nielsen managed to create idyllic winter land motifs with happy and excited children. See the series of B&G christmas plates from 1895 and forward with pictures, prices and descriptions when clicking at one of the pictures below.
In 1995 celebrated the Bing & Grondahl 100 year anniversary of the world's first Christmas plate. Here was Jørgen Nielsen commissioned to create the anniversary motif for the annual collector items from Bing & Grondahl. He was inspired by motif from 1895 - As seen in the middle below - Both the plate from 1895 and the plate from 1995, are entitled "Behind the Frozen Window" and depicts the Copenhagen skyline. The view is from Frederiksberg castle's windows beyond the Copenhagen night skies.
On the horizon is seen Copenhagen's most famous buildings such as the Marble Church, The Round Tower, Holy Trinity Church, St. Nikolai church tower, the Stock Exchange (Borsen), Our Lady Church (the city towers) seen through the frozen pane. The same applies to the other collectibles from B & G in 1995, as seen here:
A lot of other designs for collector series such as the Christmas droplets from Bing & Grondahl, ornaments and the series "Natures Children" are also created by Jørgen Nielsen.
